The Effects of Gravitational Time Dilation and Universal Expansion on Distant Starlight

We’ve all heard the estimates about the distances light travels from certain stars and they’re literally astronomical. Based on the travel time of the light from these stars they are estimated at billions, even trillions of light years away. I have no doubt that the distances are being correctly calculated, but because time is relative, there isn’t the direct correlation to age that most people seem to believe

Gravitational Time Dilation
A Black Hole
If you’ve watched any science fiction you’ve likely become familiar with this concept. The idea supported by general relativity is simply that actual time moves slower the closer you are to a gravitational mass. This can be tested by setting two clocks to the exact same time and then moving one to a very high altitude (further from a gravitational mass) and one to a very low altitude (closer to a gravitational mass). Leave them there for a while and then compare the times. They will be off by just a little bit. This same phenomenon can be created using acceleration (which generates gravitational force or g-force). Naturally the effect on Earth is minimal, but the stronger the gravitational influence, the more pronounced the effect will be. This is often demonstrated with the example of a black hole where the gravity is so intense that not even light is fast enough to escape the fall of space into the gravitational mass and time itself comes to a complete standstill. This is of course an extreme case and naturally the effect is far less pronounced with other masses, but still present.

Now when we think about light traveling from one place to another, we often forget to factor in the effects of gravitational time dilation. Light traveling from our sun takes about 8 minutes to get from there to here, from our point of reference. However, given its acceleration and the fact that it’s traveling through a massive gravity well (the sun) to get to us, the actual elapsed time for the photon in question would be significantly less. As the acceleration factor only alters the time experienced for the photon itself and not so much travel time, we’ll set aside that consideration for now, but think about distant starlight. As it leaves its star it leaves a rather large gravity well (the star). As it continues to travel, time elapsing much faster outside the star’s gravity, it continues to leave the effect of other gravity wells (the solar system, the local system cluster, and ultimately the galaxy and the super-massive black hole sitting at its core) until it is traveling in open space. Without the effect of gravity time elapses very quickly in these areas with potentially millions and even billions of years passing in what seems like a couple thousand for us here on Earth in our own fairly significant gravity well. This means that the star that’s a couple billion light years away actually gets its light to us within a couple thousand years from our perspective

The implication of this of course is that the age of the universe may well be several billion or even trillion years old, without necessitating that the Earth be more than perhaps 10,000 years old.

Universal Expansion
The Milky Way Galaxy
While it’s true the theme park is always expanding, I’m actually referring to the universe itself. Since the event that spawned the whole of the physical world, referred to as the Big Bang, the universe has been and is continuing to expand, growing ever larger each moment. This effect can be seen by observing distant stars. Any object that produces light can be analyzed to determine if it’s approaching, remaining a consistent distance away, or moving away from the observer. This is done by examining the light waves coming from the object and seeing if they’re being compressed into less space (shifting the light to the blue end of the visible light spectrum) or being stretched out over more space (shifting the light to the red end of the visible light spectrum). A blue shift indicates the object is approaching, whereas a red shift indicates that it’s moving away. With the exception of a few bodies that are close enough to our galaxy to be affected by its gravity enough to be approaching (other galaxies in our local group) everything in the universe can be seen to be moving away from us, indicating that the universe is still expanding.

What this means for distant starlight is that the original distance it needed to travel to get here is actually less than what it is now. In fact it was significantly less a second ago than what it needs to travel now. This means that while those stars that are several billion light years away now are indeed that far away, when they were first born and when we first received light from them, they may not have been nearly that far away meaning that a star’s distance now, is not an accurate measure of the age of the universe.

Conclusion
Combining these two factors together presents interesting new options for theorists on the age of the universe and what that might mean for humanity. Most notably proponents of a young earth will stand to gain the most from these potential new theories giving greater credence to their ideas and beliefs. If you find these ideas intriguing, be sure to share this article with your friends, as I’d love to see some of the spin off theories show up in another N3rd C0rn3r.

Examining the Xbox 360

The Xbox 360 is Microsoft’s second entry into the world of console gaming and arguably one of the best systems available from the most recent generation of consoles. While not terribly innovative, the console is very powerful and its versatility makes it a great choice for any gamer.

Graphics and Sound
The Xbox 360 Slim
While the Wii spent the majority of its development time working on innovation in regard to interface, the Xbox 360 put a good deal of time into stepping up the graphics processing power driving the games launched for the console. With titles like Halo 3 being released at launch, it’s no wonder the console quickly gained popularity and has continued to dominate the console market since its release. Early demos for the system made sure to include a demonstration of its raw graphics processing power using exceptionally detailed car models from a popular racing game also available at launch.

Likewise the latest audio software went into the system allowing it to process sound and produce convincing and dynamic audio that is sure to satisfy even the pickiest listeners in the gaming world.

Interface
Not a great deal has changed from the Xbox to the Xbox 360 in regard to how the player interacts with the game. Microsoft took the lessons learned from the original Xbox (namely that the controllers were too large for most gamers) and incorporated them into their latest entry using more appropriately sized controllers, but essentially the same button layout as the originals. Over time, Microsoft also developed and introduced the Kinect as its answer to the Wii’s motion sensing technology, improving upon and even surpassing the original technology it was based on. This new system, while not native, has been incorporated into many games to help enhance the gameplay experience and in some cases replaces the controller altogether. The only downside to the new introduction is its price tag, still sitting at a little over $100 which for many gamers makes it something they can live without.

Features
Like the other consoles, the Xbox 360 had to incorporate networking as a big part of its gaming experience or else be left in the dust. The system naturally interfaced with Xbox Live allowing gamers to chat with friends, send messages, and check out their friend’s achievements without ever having to leave the comfort of their home. Gamers were also able to stream Netflix and Hulu Plus through their system which made the whole console just that much more versatile and for the savvy, even more affordable as using Xbox Live, Netflix, and Hulu Plus ends up being cheaper than many cable TV plans. Of course the major downside is that Xbox live isn’t a free service if you actually want to game and stream media over it. Still it’s hard to argue with the impressive interface and performance of the service compared to other options.

Issues
Initial releases of the Xbox 360 were plagued with what become known as “the red ring of death.” This error essentially indicated that there was some sort of hardware issue and the system just wouldn’t work. As a result many of these early consoles were immediately sent in for replacement, however with manufacturing already struggling to meet demand the wait time for replacements was fairly extensive and many owners found their initial experience soured by this unfortunate hardware issue. Those spared from “the red ring of death” later found that cooling was a major issue that wasn’t appropriately addressed in the system design. While ventilation assistance was available through the addition of third party fan units, the airflow patterns built into the system itself were simply insufficient for moving the massive amounts of heat generated from the powerful graphics cards out of the system, leading to a number of other errors which, while repairable, led to issues that eventually put an end to the console in a more final way. As is typical for Microsoft, their second generation of the Xbox 360 console, the Slim, improved upon these weaknesses with more stringent manufacturing guidelines and a completely redesigned internal architecture that maximized airflow patterns to keep the internal components cool even during continuous operation over the course of several days. While this did solve the problems from the original, the lack of a replacement program or even a trade in program to help offset the frustrations caused by the first generation made these fixes out of reach for many and too little, too late for many more.

Conclusion
As a gamer, it’s hard to deny that the Xbox 360 is a great console with some stellar titles that you’d be doing yourself a disservice to not try out. Though its initial inception did have its problems, those purchasing the console this late in the game will find that the issues have largely been dealt with and there’s much fun to be had with one of these consoles tucked away in your N3rd C0rn3r.

Oregon Trail – Zombie Apocalypse Edition

For most people the phrase Oregon Trail brings back memories of a wagon train across the US complete with challenges like fording rivers, hunting for food, and fixing broken wagon wheels along the way. This old text based computer game no doubt provided hours of entertainment, and frustration to many of you as you made your journey to a better land. Well get ready for Oregon Trail with a twist; a full blown zombie apocalypse.

Gameplay
Organ Trail Title Screen
The game is built right on top of the old Oregon Trail game and so the sound and graphics are of the same quality, harkening back to the good old days when you could create all your games artwork in MS Paint without it taking 12 years for a single picture. For some this might be an issue, but really the graphics aren’t the reason to play this game.

The game starts off much as the original Oregon Trail did, with you preparing for your journey across the country. Rather than head to the general store to pick up the things you need for the trip, you instead start with 16 hours to scavenge items from the dead to pack into your wagon; your station wagon that is. You get to decide how much time you’d like to spend gathering food, ammunition for weapons, gas, car parts (batteries, mufflers, and tires), medical supplies, and money before you head off. Once you’re loaded up you start driving for the next landmark and the city you once lived in is nuked to clear out the zombie hordes (which is why you left)

Your course takes you southwest toward Texas, then back up northwest as you drive around large areas that have already been the subject of nuclear attacks. Along the way you can meet other survivors who will give you helpful hints and offer the chance to trade for things you need or purchase supplies.

As with the original game, as you’re driving you’ll encounter different situations you have to decide how to deal with. If you run out of food you can always stop and try to scavenge for some which has you enter a mini-game where you chase after food icons of various size as zombies pop up on screen and you shoot them with your gun. The process is surprisingly nerve racking, but can be very rewarding especially if you get a grocery cart. Illnesses naturally pop up with car members as you’re traveling which typically require you to rest in order for them to heal properly, which cuts into your food reserves quite heavily. Instead of rivers to be forded you’ll encounter hordes of zombies to try and get through along with a number of options for trying to get past them. If the crowd of walkers is not particularly aggressive you can always try to sneak through, driving really slow and hoping none of them notice. This strategy worked well for me, the first time at least. You also have the option of gunning your way through driving really fast and shooting from the windows as you go. If you prefer a less risky approach you can wait to see if the crowd eventually dissipates, or you can try and hire some mercenaries to escort you through, but this takes precious cash, a commodity you’ll want to try and preserve as long as you can to use for those vital supplies when you start to run low.

The only downside I found to the game was that the original scavenging mechanic was no longer available once you left your starting city making acquiring anything besides food on the road a challenge. As such it’s a good idea to stock up on your major expendables when you first set off (gas, money, and ammunition) to make sure you have enough to see you to the end of your trip.

Conclusion
While it’s really just a new twist on a really old game, I have to admit it’s surprisingly compelling. If you’d like to check it out for yourself you’ll find the game here. Organ Trail offers a source of entertainment for anyone who’s got a day to blow just hanging out in their N3rd C0rn3r.

Mac vs. PC

It’s an age old debate that has raged for years. People want to know which system is better. Opinions are many, but answers are few. Without the technical understanding of how a computer works it can be difficult to really even know the difference. As such we’ll do a comparison of each system and make our assessment based upon this information in order to be as fair as possible.

Software
The Mac Mini
The first and most noticeable difference between a Mac and a PC is the software it’s running. In fact it’s the software that largely makes the two systems different. Naturally a PC will run the latest good version of Windows which generally performs quite well, though sometime it can have seemingly random issues that the user can’t explain and chalks up to design error. This is often a fair assessment with each version of Windows building upon the last the programing becomes more and more “bloated.” With ever increasing hard drive space that’s really not a big deal for most users, but the issue is with the old lines of code that no longer get used and tend to muck up the works if they accidently get altered or activated. Add to this issue the fact that
Windows has been around for a long time (and is favored by businesses) and you get hackers who create malicious programs specifically to mess with the Windows platform either for kicks, or for the purpose of making it easier to access files on business servers that they shouldn’t be able to get to. To compensate for this last issue, anti-virus and anti-spyware software is used to defend computers and make sure they continue to run as their designed to. To fix the other issue, you have registry cleaning software which will search your computer’s registry for unused junk that can be deleted and helps you to do that without messing up the computer. This helps keep it running clean and smooth for years. I personally use and would recommend AVG anti-virus as it’s free and actually works, Spybot Search & Destroy which is also free and amazingly powerful against spyware and includes a stellar web browser plugin that blocks nearly everything and is constantly being updated, and C cleaner another free program that’s perfect for registry cleaning. To give you an example of how well they work, I’ve been using my current computer daily for more than 5 years without any software issues.

Mac on the other hand is a relatively young system, in terms of how long it’s been popular in the mainstream anyway. While using a mac may at first seem different and uncomfortable for a former windows user, the system is well crafted and very user friendly. I can honestly say I don’t know of anyone who’s owned a Mac that had an issue with the software and once you’ve learned the basics of the system it is incredibly easy to use. Its relative youth and lack of association with large financial institutions has spared Mac from targeting by virus writers up to this point meaning users won’t have to mess with anti-virus or similar software. Their computer will simply keep going until its hardware gives out.

Though it’s possible to make a PC run just as well as a Mac using additional programs, the fact that Mac does this natively makes it the clear victor in regards to the user friendliness and stability of the software it’s known for.

Hardware
A Windows 8 Laptop PC
This is where the real distinction is found between a Mac and a PC. Interestingly enough, the two systems use the same hardware (processors, graphics cards, HDD, etc.) but what varies is their selection process and compatibility.

A PC is very open ended when it comes to hardware. Windows will run on pretty much any system you can make that has the resources for it. This motherboard, that graphics card, toss in a dash of ram and one large hard drive and you’ll have something capable of running Windows. This affords a great deal of flexibility to the user as far as hardware customization, but comes at the cost of stability and compatibility. Sometimes parts don’t want to work together and sometimes they’ll work, but will run more slowly than others because they’re a little unstable. This is one of the hazards of hardware customization, but the systems you can create when a company allows you to design it yourself can be truly amazing.

A Mac however is very, very controlled when it comes to hardware. If you’ve ever tried to find a removable panel on one of those things, you understand what I’m talking about. Mac tests the compatibility of every piece of hardware it uses to make sure each piece is fine tuned to work together making for very impressive performance ratings (even running Windows faster than most PCs do). This however comes at the cost of DIY solutions and hardware customization. When you get your Mac, you have what you have. If you want more, you’ll have to purchase a whole new system. If something breaks you send it to them and they send it back a process that takes as long as it takes, leaving you without a computer for however long that may be.

While the issues associated with the closed hardware architecture of a Mac can also occur with a PC, the fact that even a technically skilled person can’t try to fix it themselves and the frustrating element of not being able to customize or upgrade your hardware on a Mac makes PC the winner in the hardware category.

Use
With the score at 1 to 1 it really comes down to how you intend to use the system. Mac has some amazing software for it that makes recording your own music, making videos, and graphics editing easy enough that children can do it. On the other hand, PCs are well known to be the kings of gaming. Though many games will run on Mac (and often better than on PC) there are still hundreds of titles the Mac just doesn’t have access to. Add to this the fact that Macs can’t be customized with upgraded or additional hardware and you see why PCs rule the gaming world. Finally, while many programs will run faster on a Mac, the long standing history of Windows’ use by companies means that backwards compatibility becomes an issue when trying to make a switch to a new system. This has the result of making Windows the operating system of choice for businesses and a good deal of software is built for Windows specifically for this purpose. Determining a winner in this category has to go to Windows because of its broader spectrum of acceptance and use, though really you can decide this one for yourself based upon your needs.

Conclusion
It seems that Windows still maintains a slight advantage over the Mac in a couple of key areas. While many people would insist that Mac is better, and perhaps for their situation that is true, the fact is that for those who like the ability to customize their own system and those involved in business, Windows is the system to go with. As such a Windows PC continues to sit at the very core of my N3rd C0rn3r.

State of the Kingdom Address

As many of you know I recently took up the game of Minecraft for some extra entertainment in my spare time. What started merely as a curiosity has become a bit of a full blown obsession and I’ve spent many a late hour improving Kentonia, my Minecraft Kingdom. This article, which will come about every month or so will serve to update you, my readers on the “Land of Light,” and perhaps give you some ideas for your own block empires.

Living Arrangements
My home has expanded somewhat from its original 3x3 hole in the side of a hill. Using materials gathered I’ve been able to expand it to fill up the entire area under the hill I choose as my home (easily 100+ square meters). In light of the dangers of creeper damage and other creatures that like to dig, I’ve been underway with a reinforcement project replacing the original dirt with stone. While it’s not a perfect (or final) solution, it should serve to ward off many attackers. A small window has been added since I learned to make glass so I can easily know when its day once more and I’ve finally added a bed to my home making the window little more than a décor choice. As for the door, well my home’s come a long way from the original solution of sealing the entrance with dirt blocks each night and now uses a steal door operated by a pressure plate from the inside and a button from the outside. Indeed there is no place like home for citizens of Kentonia.

Resources
The Kingdom of Kentonia (thus far)
Much effort has gone into developing the resources available and I am proud to say that the wheat and sugarcane/reed harvest is bountiful. Mines have been dug from inside my home down 10 levels (each level being 3 blocks) and much coal and iron has been located making other projects possible, though gold, diamonds, and redstone remain elusive. An expansion project is currently under way off the main tunnels to help locate these valuable resources. A recent effort has seen the completion of a tree farm for oak trees. While the farm is only at present generating 12 trees at a time, this has been more than enough for my needs. To assist in harvesting a scaffolding 12 blocks high has been created to allow for the top down harvest of the larger trees. Finally I’ve also managed to acquire a small collection of animals to use for their resources. 5 cows, 4 sheep, 4 chickens, and 2 pigs round out the small collection. More will follow as I have time to expand and segregate the pen. The one challenge I’ve come across so far is the lack of carrots which seem to be difficult to locate. I’ve searched the whole island with no success. I would just borrow some from villagers as has been suggested on a number of forums, but alas, I generated my world without structures and so am unable to pilfer the resources of villagers. Zombie killing has been underway for a few days with no success. Tonight I’m going to try altering the difficulty to see if that helps as some have suggested it may.

Security
Many improvements have been made in the way of security, most notably being iron doors to all exterior accesses and a broad torch grid that nearly covers the whole eastern half of the island. The project will eventually cover the entire surface of the island and then will take a look at the caverns that have been discovered for possible lighting solutions. The grid at this point extends over 100 meters in all eligible directions around the house (being as how one side is right next to ocean) which does an excellent job of keeping monsters at bay. To round out security a large high tower (about 20 blocks high) has been constructed atop the hill my house is in with a ladder access that leads down through the center and into the house. This allows easy access for night time defense with a bow should it be necessary. With the surface well covered with light, underground encounters have become more frequent. Hopefully this issue can be resolved as I continue the lighting project into these underground sections.

Vanity/Convenience Projects
Mob Trap Collections Office
To date only two of these projects have been undertaken with the remainder of efforts being focused on building up the infrastructure. The first of these is the mob trap. With design elements taken from a trap design created by Colby Cheese, a master trap maker in the Minecraft community. A large spawning chamber was created to generate any creature that can fit in a 2x2 area. These mobs will wonder about a bit and eventually fall off the spawning platform into a glass lined drowning pit where they meet their ends. The water washes their items down to the bottom of the pit where sits yours truly collecting the stray items that don’t fall into the hopper collection system. The depth of the pit is designed to place the monsters spawning area just outside the 24 square “no spawn” zone, but still within the 24-32 block “hot zone” where most mobs will spawn. This has made the trap quite efficient, though I still need to find and eliminate underground caverns as potential spawn points.

With the mob trap on the south side of the island and my house on the north side, getting to and fro for construction, modification, maintenance, and rest became a bit of an issue, necessitating the second project which I’ve dubbed the Skyway Tram. At present it’s powered by a 6 cart on a circular track booster system launching the mine carts easily from one end to the other. While not long enough for the “On a Rail” achievement the system has proved to be very convenient, if a little temperamental. Naturally, upgrades will come as new types of resources become available.

Conclusion
While much has been accomplished there’s still much to do, very likely including some things I have yet to even think of. As such should you have suggestions for a possible project, please comment below and perhaps it will appear as part of the next “State of the Kingdom” address here at the N3rd C0rn3r.

It All Started with the Big... Bang!

At this point all most all nerds have at some point heard about the popular television show Big Bang Theory and the antics of its principal characters. I don’t imagine it’ll come as any surprise to you that I’m a BIG fan of the show.

Premise
Penny speaks to Sheldon through his
 Mobile Virtual Presenence Device
The story line follows the misadventures and daily lives of four physicists working at Caltech in Pasadena, California; Leonard Hofstadter (Johnny Galecki), Sheldon Cooper (Jim Parsons), Raj Koothrappali (Kunal Nayyar), and Howard Wolowitz (Simon Helberg). While it may seem like such a show would offer little entertainment value, the social interactions between these four characters and those they interact with outside their circle provide the “comic fodder” that drives the show’s success. Things are spiced up with the introduction of unique traits for each character contributing to their nerd personas (obsessive compulsive disorder, lactose intolerance, poor eyesight, pathological shyness, etc.).

The show kicks off with the introduction of the 5th character Penny (Kaley Cuoco) who’s just moving into the building across the hall from Leonard and Sheldon’s apartment. You can almost sense the plot unfold as Leonard quickly falls head over heels for the aspiring actress/waitress and makes faltering attempts to win over her affections.

This particular plot line was so popular that two additional female characters were added as romantic interests for Howard and Sheldon; Bernadette Rostenkowski (Melissa Rauch) and Amy Farrah Fowler (Mayim Bialik).

Positives
What about this show isn’t awesome? It’s filled with nerd culture references that are sure to grab the attention of any nerd watching for even a few minutes and it offers a hilarious take on what it’s like to immerse yourself in that culture. Not only does each of the characters have their friends, but some (Sheldon in particular) have their enemies leading to conflicts that are sure to make you laugh and may even bring back some old memories. Overall it’s hard to find any fault with the show.

Negatives
While it’s next to impossible to find anything about the show that just isn’t amazing, there is one episode that, for whatever reason, I just can’t stand. Perhaps it’s just me, but the episode Loobenfeld Decay just holds no appeal for me whatsoever. Perhaps it’s the actor chosen for Cousin Leo or the lines for his character, but I just cannot stand him. Needless to say I skip this episode every time it comes up on the DVD (as I find it necessary to re-watch the show from time to time). Otherwise I can’t find anything about the show that I don’t like and frankly one episode out of several seasons is a stellar ratio that few shows can even come close to.

Conclusions
Big Bang Theory is just a great show all around that is definitely worth checking out whether you’re a nerd or not. In fact I have yet to find a single person who doesn’t at least enjoy the show, if they’re not totally into it. With such broad appeal it’s no surprise that the show keeps running and the fans keep coming back for more. I hope, as I imagine many like me do, that the show keeps running for years to come. Even should it go on forever, I’ll find the room for the DVDs here in my N3rd C0rn3r.

Foods that can Help Injuries Heal Faster

It’s just a fact that people will accidently become injured at one point or another. While this is unavoidable, it’s possible to speed the healing process by eating the right health foods with the proper nutrients to give the body what it needs to recover as quickly as possible.

Poor kid takes a nun-chuck to the throat
Now for those of you asking yourselves, “what does this have to do with nerds?” let me tell you. Though most of a nerd’s activities tend toward a sitting position, there are those things that threaten their physical well-being.  Paint-balling leaves some truly nasty welts, too many hours on the computer can lead to carpel tunnel syndrome (as can any repetitive action, like game controller use), Wii Fit will ask you to do things that make you ache in places you never thought possible, and there’s always the risk of injury when larping or making fan videos (lightsaber fights are less fun when you forget the above the head blocks… and the aspirin). So believe me when I say, nerds need help with their injuries too.

Honey
While many of the healing properties of honey have yet to be proven in laboratory studies, it has been proven to have some beneficial properties for treating injuries. Its primary use is as an antiseptic applied directly to the wound. The slightly acidic nature of honey cleans the wound and promotes healing while also providing a soothing feeling to help take the edge off. Though walking around with sticky fingers is generally frowned upon, this home remedy is an excellent first line of defense for injury treatment.

Zinc
A natural mineral found in a number of common health foods, zinc is an essential part of the healing process and as such is a must for any healthy diet. Nuts, dairy products (especially crumbly cheeses), seeds, and meats (especially liver) are excellent sources of zinc that can be found at almost any grocery or health foods store. The body uses zinc to boost the immune system thus preventing infections of the wound and to promote the use of consumed fats and proteins for rapid tissue growth, causing wounds to heal faster.

Omega-3s
A painful even to look at paintball welt
Found in health foods like fish, flax seeds, and walnuts Omega-3s play a vital role in the injury healing process. These fatty acids actually act as an anti-inflammatory reducing the swelling that can occur as the result of a wound and thus reducing the pain that goes   with such injuries. Omega-3s will also help to battle bad fats keeping your cardiovascular system running at peak efficiency. This becomes very important for the rapid healing of injuries as a clear cardiovascular system will allow for the faster delivery of the vital materials needed to promote healing.

Vitamin C
A vital mineral that’s absolutely necessary for the promotion of faster healing is vitamin c. Because the body is unable to produce this important mineral on its own, it’s necessary to consume foods that contain it, such as berries, broccoli, citrus, kiwis, and peppers on a daily basis. Vitamin c is a key part of building new proteins for use in new skin and scar tissue, as well as ligaments, tendons, and blood vessels. Supplying the body with a sufficient amount of this important mineral is one of the best steps you can take to promote rapid healing.

Protein
While it’s important to have minerals like zinc and vitamin c to promote the use of protein for new tissue growth, it’s also very important to have the actual protein as well, as it serves as the basic building blocks used to heal most injuries. Many health foods contain good proteins like chicken, lean red meats, fish, eggs, and dairy many of which are also good choices for supplying other necessary healing minerals. It’s important to remember when you’re consuming protein for healing injuries to avoid the fatty proteins as they’re not as useful and may, when combined with inactivity due to injury lead to unwanted weight gain.

It’s clear that health foods are a great option for promoting faster healing for injuries and warding off illnesses and come in a variety of options sure to please even the pickiest pallet. To ensure a healthier, happier life make certain to include some of these health foods into your daily diet, maybe in a snack bowl back in your N3rd C0rn3r.
